It's amazing how quickly @SenTomCotton goes from criticizing China's authoritarian methods to fantasizing about our own Tiananmen-style crackdown.
Calm heads. They're apparently in short supply in DC. I wouldn't want any of these excitable loudmouths calling the shots in a real crisis.
I see it really didn’t take very long for people not paying very close attention to transform “Cotton shouldn’t fantasize about a Tiananmen-style crackdown” (true) into “These riots and the Tiananmen protests are really the same thing” (false)
I’m not equating the two protests or the responses we’ve witnessed to either. I’m warning against the mindset that sees mass military force as the solution to civil unrest, and the hypocrisy of criticizing it in others while falling prey to it yourself.
