VENT: This really grinds my gears: when other scientists stay silent on #BlackLivesMatter, especially other public health scientists with newly big followings. Racial injustice deaths are public health issues. Twitter is about advocacy not just sharing ur COVID stuff. </endvent>
2) African Americans are also at many fold higher risk of COVID mortality. African Americans are infected more because they often work in low wage front line work and often live in low income housing. Racial injustice is heart of this epidemic and inextricably linked.
3) So fellow scientists, other than a mere retweet of a news outlet or tut-tutting about masks alone, please stop just sitting on the damn sidelines afraid to step out of your lane. America needs your voice! (Ht to @AbraarKaran).
