My Observation:

Institutions that are in place to protect and serve the community have allowed individuals under their purview to terrorize and kill with impunity. (1/10)
The reaction when there has been a clear violation of a Black American’s civil rights or a blatant miscarriage of justice = “let’s wait and see.” (2/10)
And often as we wait, it happens again. And when it’s finally time for justice to be served, nothing happens. No one is accountable. Violators are able to go about their life, after callously taking someone else’s away. (3/10)
And that’s the process when there’s video. It’s worse when there is no video evidence, and the police officers’ report is taken at face value (despite so much evidence from cases with video evidence that these reports are often perversions of the truth). (4/10)
But let someone throw a brick through a window...
•police in riot gear
•national guard
•tear gas and rubber bullets
•blocked streets and helicopters
(5/10)
The people are asking that the SAME energy (in the least) that our leaders use to protect a building or a car be used to protect the LIFE of a living, breathing human being. (6/10)
They are asking that our leaders have the same concern when they watch a video of a man begging for his life under the knee of a police officer that they have when they watch a video of a kid using their skateboard to break a window. (7/10)
What if all the money, time, and resources that we are using to protect our cities was redirected to protecting our CITIZENS? (8/10)
Now if you read this, and the first thing you say is “Dr. Clark is condoning riots” then I think you should reread this thread again, but slower this time. (9/10)
I do NOT condone riots or destruction of property. The cliff notes version = I want us to care about unjust killings as much as (and more than) we care about Target and the CNN Center sign. (10/10)
