I recall thinking that after formal Brexit UK government decisions regarding the EU would get harder because of visible consequences, which leaving did not. This is where we may see differences between the PM and the ideologues around him.
Closed factories, farmers unable to sell production, and devalued currency would be a lot more noticeable than preparation for 'industries of the future' and a few freeports generating not a huge amount.
