Hearing from a few folks in #bced classrooms. Sick kids coming to school, exposing staff and students. When Fraser Health/VCH/admin is contacted they find out that if the student tests positive for #COVIDー19, most (if not all) in the school will *not* be told at all. 1/

Staff members already choosing to self isolate from family. Esp where family is vulnerable due to age or health. This is making mental health worse. Trying to wrap my head around the thinking behind not letting staff, families, & students know about confirmed cases in a school 2/

I know privacy is an issue, but "we have a confirmed case in grade 4" is not breaching privacy, and most ppl I talk to are under the impression that contact tracing is for this very purpose...*to inform others if they have been exposed to a confirmed case* 3/

I know how important a return is for some students, but there has to be another way. We have to find a way to protect students and staff while supporting all kids. Not informing ppl about confirmed exposure if it happens is an egregious wrong. 4/ #bced #COVIDー19 #COVIDbc
