1) Cross immunity. Infection with other endemic coronaviruses *may* produce immunity to this novel coronavirus. Conflicting reports here, though
2) Natural immunity. Some of the population might have natural immunity, like CCR5-delta32 & HIV

In either of these scenarios, we get lucky and the virus runs into a natural wall that limits spread. Nobelist Levitt thinks this is what’ll happen, though he doesn’t have a mechanism for it.
