This is exactly the "balancing" argument the international Right made from the start against lockdowns: yes, Covid-19 kills people, but so does a Depression, and therefore lockdowns & quarantines are immoral.

This view transformed from "morally reprehensible" to noble overnight:
I spoke this morning to @krystalball and @esaagar about this shift in Covid rhetoric, the authoritarianism and police state tactics evident since the protests began, and about the state of civil liberties generally in the US with the pandemic & protests:

I've been vocally supportive of the protests from the start and still am. But the radical, sudden, extreme shift in how our authorities talk and issue decrees about Covid-19 -- without any attempt to justify the 180 degree reversal -- is creepy and authoritarian:

The incredibly brave @DxEverywhere investigator who enabled us to report on the sick and cruel mass-extermination method of pigs by @IowaSelect -- @DxE_Matt -- has been arrested and faces multiple felony charges yesterday. My interview with him here:

There's obviously a lot going on right now but these animal rights activists do incredibly brave and important work, facing a very powerful industry that uses its police and political power to crush transparency. For anyone inclined to help Matt & DxE:
