So who knew that all you had to do to kickstart the economy was convince Americans not to care that 1,000+ people are dying a day from a virus with no vaccine, that can't be stopped, is 3 times as contagious as the flu, and has an Infection Fatality Rate 14 times that of the flu?
PS/ I'm just making the obvious point: the pandemic is only a big deal if you care about human life. If your attitude is that sh*t happens and people die and, you know, whatever—which is the attitude of the President of the United States—the pandemic hardly matters at all, right?
PS2/ There are many ways to push back against Donald Trump's grotesque degradation of America. One way is to *keep caring* about the fact that America has lost 110,000+ people in 75 days under circumstances in which *85% of those deaths were preventable* had Trump been competent.
PS3/ I want the unemployment rate to be low. I'm *happy* when it's low. My point is that the unemployment rate dropped because Trump and his party pushed tens of millions of people into a premature "re-opening" that is unsafe and will kill many of them.
I can't celebrate *that*.

PS4/ There'll be a push for people to celebrate this drop in the unemployment rate. The problem is that celebrating the drop is also celebrating the premature reopening that led to the drop—and celebrating the premature reopening equates to celebrating the needless death to come.
