So Pemandu just launched the Global Covid Index (CGI) - touted as the world's first "comprehensive index" that let's you know how good/bad a country is doing with regards to #Covid19

However, nobody cares, nobody covers the news except local sites which just run their PR. Why?

According to their website "The GCI is driven fully by big data, and the index scores and ranks 184 countries on how well they are coping with the COVID-19 pandemic."

It has 2 indexes: Severity and Recovery Index.

The Severity Index just calculates:

(Cases per Capita + Death)*70% + Global Health Security (GHS) Index*30%

and normalise it to a score of 0-100

The Recovery Index calculates:

(Active Cases+Recovered Cases+Test per Case+Test per Capita)*70% +
GHS*30%

and normalise it to a score of 0-100

All these data are available online for free

The fancy dashboard is nice, but we didn't develop it. It was bought from Amcharts (amcharts.com) and the template for Covid19 is already available in packages.

The so called big data can be easily pulled (free of charge) from open sources like ourworldindata.org/coronavirus-so…

The amchart package that the site uses should be and likely the USD2,975 (or RM12,700) one

I'm not a very smart person, so I wonder what is the true value/ objective in this; How much did it cost to develop such global innovation that the world has been anticipating.

To me, it takes more than the above few data points to objectively & scientifically portray & project the severity and recovering condition of a country.
