I want to contextualize the Buffalo incident. We will see more white people being brutalized in the coming weeks. The lesson is that the police will fuck *anybody* up. On command. That is their purpose. It is white supremacy that usually keeps them targeted at Black people.
I'm revisiting this thread briefly some things. I'm no longer able to reach the article I linked to above. So maybe others can't actually read it. It specifies that the 57 cops left the Emergency Response Team. They are still employed as cops.
Some people may be struggling to interpret things. There are statements from the police union that point the finger at the police commisioner's office. Essentially the "we were following orders" defense. They are mad that their superiors are throwing them under the bus.
I believe the leaders who give these orders should be held accountable as well. They are absolutely part of the rotten white supremacist culture of policing. I want to make that clear. And *at the same time*, the officers in question are also complicit and culpable.
The culture of policing binds all of these actors in a system who's purpose is to produce violence against citizens. Everyone will seek to point the finger. Everyone wants to make it someone else's fault. That is to be expected. None of the people involved are innocent. None.
And that is the reason why we can reach no other conclusion than to defund police and abolish the institution in its current corrupt incarnation. We must dismantle and rebuild. If you aren't convinced yet, keep watching. They will keep proving it to you. I guarantee it.
