I've had sympathy for the Government during the CV crisis but it's hard to argue it's been a good couple of weeks for the Government. Too many mistakes (over-promising & under-delivering on testing & tracing, quarantine & Parliamentary voting). /1 conservativehome.com/thecolumnists/…
But the turning point was the decision to keep Dominic Cummings. The whole affair exposed arrogance, a lack of honesty & transparency, an emasculated Cabinet, a PM dependent on one adviser + prioritising Brexit over dealing with the virus. /2
Keeping Cummings has meant that normal politics has resumed much earlier than would otherwise be the case. Given the difficult months ahead, the Prime Minister may regret that. /END
