The two most poisonous realities of modern industrial society are 1) the fundamental split between management and managed, government and governed, and 2) the vast array of mechanisms by which all aspects of our existence (subjective and objective, spiritual and material, all of
them defined by that management/managed dichotomy) are co-ordinated to systemic ends which are not shaped by human needs.

Our pseudo-democracy is pseudo precisely because it purports to give a population control over a set of mechanisms which came into being to control
populations - to conscript them and put them to work to systemic ends. The liberal nation state came into being to do just this, reflecting a set of needs defined by an emerging capitalism.

A real democratic intervention would involve reversing this centralization.

Since Reagan/Thatcher the only objective has been to get us much of OUR wealth and resources into the hands of the 0.01% entitled elite as possible while they used the wealth to try to destroy governments and OUR world with their insatiable, demented greed.
They should take the dragons den approach.

"So you want a four hundred million $$$$ loan Mr Gates, well that means we want 51%"

I bet people like the bearded one would soon find other ways to finance their businesses
An Equity stake offers the hope of nationalizing the profits.

A loan takes the risk of loss with little upside.

Be greedy when people are fearful (and fearful when people are greedy).
