Please: stop saying “these are dark times”.

No. It’s been dark. For sooooo long.

This is THE LIGHT BREAKING IN!!!

It’s time to let your light shine. Don’t pull your punches. Swing like you want to knock down all injustice.

I see that, “Rage, rage against the dying of the light” stuff.

I appreciate the poetry.
But it’s a misdiagnosis.
It’s the darkness that is dying, not the light.

This moment needs more than reactionary rage. It needs fierce revolutionary light.

At a time when valleys are being lifted up and mountains are being made low, be part of a people that are telling mountains to move.

Please, for the love of all that’s holy, do not get in the way of this GREAT LEVELLING.

If your faith has you defending darkness and resisting the light, it’s time to lose your faith, and join Jesus in the great levelling of all things.

This is a time of great unmasking. It’s not just statues that are toppling but the Powers they represent. There are idols to be torn down in our own hearts as we take to the streets. There is an exorcism of white supremacy underway, don’t resist it being cast out!

Christians, if your church can’t say #BlackLivesMatter, leave.

The Spirit calls, “Come out my people” from the Christendom project of white supremacist colonialism.

Leave and find a people who will follow Jesus into the streets in unapologetic solidarity with those who bleed.

I am more convinced than ever that a Christianity which can’t hear the cries of the oppressed is the biggest threat to following Jesus.

If your church is contributing to the hardening of your heart, leave.

Find a people long to live in the ache of God for a new world of justice

Find a people where you can confess complicity and commitment yourself to solidarity.

Find a people where purity is renounced for cultures of healing transparency.

Join a people economic justice is spirituality not elitist esoteric abstractions.

Find a people where more is invested in going out to join the work of seeking healing-justice than is invested in “getting people in”.

This is a time of social tectonics shaking. Do not waste your life propping up systems that need to fall!

Don’t hide in secret waiting till you climb higher in a system which is falling to then ‘be an influencer’.

Run down to ground zero. Relocate to where God is on the move.

Christians,

Herod’s understanding of influence is not our model.

Pilate’s take of truth is not our way of knowing.

The Pharisees’ scapegoating isn’t our way.

Caiaphas’ realpolitik is not our politics.

Jesus’ zealotry of nonviolent revolutionary love is.

Christians,
Our take away from Christ’s passion is not suppose to be,

“Hate to be that guy!”

or,

“Glad it’s him and not me!”

But “I will follow.”

Sing it loud!

“Must Jesus bear the cross alone,
And all the world go free?
No, there’s a cross for everyone,
And there’s a cross for me.”

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” -Jesus
