While many hooligans angry at the involvement of the far right, the far right will be there - including National Front, ex-BNP, British Movement and ex C18 activists are all coming.
Let us be under no illusion, the fascists are coming for trouble - pure and simple. They aren’t coming in to protect the monuments but attack their political opponents and black people
They don’t care about the monuments. They think Britain should not have gone to war with Nazi Germany; they think Churchill is a war criminal; and they deny the Holocaust. These are the real insulters of our recent history
If the #DFLA really were concerned about their presence they would drive them out - but they don’t. They give lip service to not being racist, but accommodate them on their demos
Attacks on statues and war memorials has generated a lot of anger - and I understand that - but coming into London for a fight, especially as it is being racislised by the far right - is not the answer and will only make matters worse
Finally, the boarding up of monuments has generated a lot of media anger, but surely this is a sensible temporary precaution to prevent trouble and reduce tensions.
