The addition of concrete barriers in #CHOP this morning is actually very significant for a couple reasons.

1) This is a clear sign that the city is letting protesters stay long term. They are specifically adding wood around concrete barriers for people to decorate.
2) Barriers help prevent cars from driving into protesters (a very real threat as we have already seen), while still allowing a lane of travel for emergency responders.
3) This is an important step toward coexistence and the fact protesters are on board is important. The city is giving them increased safety, in exchange for increased access. People live and work in the #CHOP zone and they deserve emergency services. #Q13FOX

I want to answer some questions about the AR-15 debacle here in one thread so I don't have to try to answer them individually. And I will also say that @SeattlePD needs to answer for why these weapons were left in police cars in the middle of the riot zone.
1) Our guard is former special forces. He is not a police officer.
2) He acted on his own, after getting our crew to safety around a building.
3) We watched the first AR-15 be pulled from a cruiser, then ran along with many others as the protester fired it into the cruiser.
4) Here is cellphone video of that AR being fired, taken by a bystander:
5) The guard disabled the first AR-15, returned to our crew, and we called 911 in order to get the firearm out of our possession ASAP.

Young reporters: In time, you’ll get wise to a tactic some politicians use under tough questioning that I refer to as “talk you out of time.” But why wait to get wise to it – I’ll tell you what it is right now! (1/9)
“Talk you out of time” is something politicians do when they 1) aren’t great at interviews 2) don’t have good answers to your questions or 3) want to get their message heard with minimal return questioning (2/9)
Savvy politicians know there’s a time limit on the conversation – either one their staff imposed, or one you have (like in the case of most live TV interviews). So if these politicians can “talk you out of time” they can walk away unscathed. (3/9)
