This poll was conducted in 2019, but we found out there are more cases coming up despite the pandemic. That's why we are talking about it again.

Yes Children can work but according to the Child Rights Act 2003, it can be only domestic work, from a family member and within the environment in his home. This work may not interfere with his school

There are 11 states yet to adopt and domesticate the Child Rights Act. We found out that Child Labour is a booming business, especially in the aspect of Sexual slavery.

It is so bad that some people are using it as a business and bearing children for the purpose of using them as commodities. Some see childbearing as a reactive measure and say "Na God dey take care of pikin" and go birthing sporadically

Despite the advocacy that is made we are still seeing a reluctance by Governments to prioritize the Child Rights Act and provide the necessary basic amenities children need to not be a statistic.

Do we need to wait for a major issue to occur before we begin to take Child Labour a little more seriously?
We also need a critical mass action in advocacy against child labour to make government give it more priority.

The major reason why Child Labour is prevalent is poverty, but we see that most families that fall into this state are those families that do not plan for the children.

Despite being poor, my parents gave birth WITHIN THEIR MEANS, so i was never subjected to Child Labour. Childbirth can not be reactive. Parents have to plan for their children.

Schooling must not be an option for any child, it must be MANDATORY.

The advocacy is more effective when Children are more aware of Child Labour. There are cases when children have been able to demand for better care for the "Help" that was brought.

#PollingFriday
- Ensure that any child you're bringing to "help" you must be taken care of and treated like a human being.
- They should be in school.

It is still more of a mindset problem because the cycle continues when former victims seek out more child labourers. People could have been poor but they never sold their children to slavery or to be used as child labour.

What needs to be done boils down to Free education, better social welfare programs like the school feeding. There should be no hidden charges to schooling in public schools.
The school feeding program should be a lot more effective.

No child wakes up to seek labour.
Every child wants to enjoy their childhood. There is no way children should be blamed for child labour. The parents/guardian owe it to the children to protect them

Hope is not enough. There is no political will. But there is Hope.

Finally, "THE CHILD YOU DON'T PROTECT WILL GO ON TO HARM THE ONE YOU PROTECT."

Child Labour Advocacy has to be a collective effort.
