(2/6) Till finally it was stopped. Even the strong remarks by the Standing committee on Defence had no effect on them. Why? Because the Army is not a vote bank to be pampered? Or is it something more than that?
(3/6) Had the Mountain Strike Corps been raised as per its time schedule and as per what it was supposed to be, the Chinese would have thought ten times before venturing into Doklam, what to say of the present standoff.
(4/6) This NO one is talking of even now. Mere infrastructure without the Force to Protect it and then Exploit it, is just giving the Chinese access into our hinterland. Instead raising the Mountain Strike Corps, the MOD was planning to reduce manpower of the Military.
(5/6) We need to have relook on any such move. There are no short cuts to maintaining a strong Military based on our Operational Requirements of protecting the Integrity & Sovereignty of of the Country. We need to restart the raising of the Mountain Strike Corps to its original
(6/6) approved capability and so it fast. Valuable time has been lost. Training the men will also take time, one can't do it just on paper. For your consideration on priority please.
