The gun violence epidemic in the U.S. affects certain groups differently, which we need to acknowledge considering it’s LGBTQ Pride month.🏳️‍🌈

This crisis is covered up by Republicans/NRA. They suppress relevant voices & tell lies to distract from the truth. Let’s talk #GunReform.

Falsehoods like this are spread: “The NRA wants the LGBTQ community to be armed, because their safety is valued. Equal rights means loose gun laws for all.”

The NRA wants everyone to be armed because that sells more guns. It brings more profit, & buys more mansions for its CEO Wayne LaPierre (while squandering members’ dues)....

The NRA doesn’t respect the LGBTQ community though.

In truth, the NRA has said that trans-individuals are twisted, likened gay love to beastiality, & has proclaimed that mass shootings happen because we allow marriage equality.

Not kidding. NRA officials have said this. Awful.

Republicans have long been opponents of LGBTQ rights. They support the transgender military ban, gay adoption discrimination, & job discrimination. They also don’t see healthcare as a right for the queer community.

Don’t expect them to provide the help that’s desperately needed.

In 2016, a shooter opened fire inside the Pulse Nightclub, murdering 49 innocent people. Since then, a light has been shed on how the LGBTQ community is disproportionately affected by gun violence.

The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs recorded an 86 percent jump in anti-LGBTQ homicides from 2016 to 2017, mostly w/ guns.

10,300 hate crimes are committed every year w/ a gun (OVER 28 EACH DAY) across the country. Number 1 tool for enacting hate crimes is, yes, a FIREARM. Minority groups are always the target. Easy access to guns is the deadly variable.

Transgender people are especially targeted in hate crimes, w/ black trans-women most disproportionately killed. This must be addressed. This must end. NOW. #DisarmHate

Already in 2020, at least 15 transgender or non-binary individuals have been shot/killed!! This injustice is fueled by easy access to guns. Why allow such tragedies to continue unchecked? Say their names with me:
