June 21, Pandemic update, top 5 ascending countries (BRIMPUS)
Brazil and the US are going vertical (7-day rolling avg)
The US had plateaued for 80 days at ~20,000/day
Past 5 days:
Sat 33,338 (gets the weekend *)
Fri 34,157
Thu 29,909
Weds 27,763
Tues. 23,705
But thankfully the dissociation from cases—deaths for the US continues with marked reduction in daily deaths. Down to ~600/day from well over 2,000 in April. A disconnect not seen elsewhere.

A look across some key US states, June 19th
1. It's key to use the same Y-axis. Here are new cases graphs. The only ones with a big N and at pandemic peak are Texas, Florida and Arizona. You can see others being declared as in trouble, but at a far different level of N
2. For hospitalizations, many states don't provide their daily data. For the ones above there is no trend of increase to go along with the jump in cases since late in May.
3. But there is a trend of increase in deaths (all on same Y-axis) in several of these states, particularly in Texas and Arizona.

The rate of asymptomatic infections was 21% (of 178 patients) but the authors suggest it could be higher since these were high-risk people; they call for a random sample population screen 👍
