2/ I always walked with a huge hole in my heart. And every single time I heard my own friends in #LaJolla & #PacificBeach speak so evil about our #unhoused neighbors it stung deep to my very core.
3/ It took decades to finally tell OUR story in it’s entirety with the the help & mentorship of @RHYMEFEST & his wife. We met at the very first screening of @ThePublicFilm at the @SBIFF Rhymefest then had me watch his own documentary In My Father’s House.
4/ @RHYMEFEST gave me the courage to speak up about my own Lived Experience while working on solutions for our unhoused neighbors.
5/ I would also like to thank Ellis Rose for working with me behind the scenes when things get painful for me. Much Love to you Ellis. You are much better than any paid Mental Health Provider! @HomelessnessSD thank you for caring and advocating. I always feel safe around you.
6/ @LoveForgivPeace our fearless leader. I will never be able to Thank You enough for all that you do for San Diegan’s Experiencing Homelessess.
7/I’ve always been housing people since the 80’s. Many people in #LaJolla and #PacificBeach already know this about me as some of you were experiencing homelessness yourselves. @joe_lacava thank you for seeing people.
8/ So “you” are my “why” my Dad is my “why”. And through it all I can still acknowledge that even within homelessness there is still “White Privilege”.
