Premier John Horgan says the province is "slowly" moving to Phase 3 of its restart plan. The phase will allow for more travel across the province. Horgan says B.C. will have a better summer than expected, "but this is not a return to normal," he cautions.
"To all British Columbians, as we start Phase 3, congratulations," says Premier John Horgan. "I'm so proud of what we've been able to do as a community, to lead Canada quite frankly."
The province's state of emergency has been extended until July 7.
Horgan: "This is not the summer for the big family reunion at the cottage. Again, keep your gatherings as small as you can keep them, and respect the health and well-being of your friends and neighbours."
Dr. Bonnie Henry: "We would not be making these recommendations if we weren't confident that we had put in place the measures that we need ... Having said that, it does not mean we go back to a pre-COVID normal."
There will be no waiving or modification of quarantine measures for film crews, says Dr. Bonnie Henry. Once film crews quarantine for 14 days, they will be able to "shoot at their leisure," says the premier, as long as they adhere to WorkSafeBC guidelines.
Horgan says now that B.C. is moving to Phase 3, people from Alberta and Yukon if they're coming should be mindful of what British Columbians have done and observe the rules
