#COVID19 is a notifiable disease. Labs which find a positive sample are requiree by law to directly report that result to @PHE_uk. The Lighthouse Labs don't do this...they instead rely on @NHSDigital to match patient data to their test results and send it on:

What this story tells us is what we maybe knew all along - the #dailybriefings have become a charade and we are so far from "following the science" now that perhaps we need to re-think the daily spin session they've become?

Matt Hancock's claims of putting a "protective ring" around care homes is laughable. Homes reported in March that PPE was requisitioned for the NHS, patients were discharged with no testing until the end of April, and little extra funding made available by councils.
There is now lots of action being done and new support for homes from NHS due to be in place from today. But its too little too late, especially in the context of SAGE advising of community spread in February.
