There were several amendments added to the bill at the last minute. None of them address fundamental flaws with this bill, which could easily be abused to deter companies from offering end-to-end encryption technology that keeps people safe, and threatens free expression online.

Everything about this bill is shameful. It seems carefully crafted to be as confusing as possible. It exploits a very real and horrific problem -- but it won't do anything to fix it. Instead, this is just about politicians posturing and saber rattling over CDA 230 and encryption.
Big Tech companies suck. We don't trust them. They absolutely can and must do better on so many things. The EARN IT act sponsors want you to believe that this bill is about holding Big Tech accountable. But if it passes it will be like SESTA/FOSTA & hurt marginalized ppl instead
