Starting a thread of my clerkship thoughts — enjoy!
Saw my first delivery as a med student today. The fact that patients let us into their most special and sacred moments is amazing. I hope I never lose the feeling I felt today. #familymed
Rural #familymed is hard. Covering OB unit, medical admits to floor, AND still having to see your clinic patients 🤯 So much respect for family med docs!
Day 1 of neurology...hoping my attending has this same view...
Today I felt it all come together. Neurosurg was busy in office and sent me over to hosp to see a couple consults. I saw the patients, wrote notes, talked to nursing & answered family’s questions. A much needed confidence boost 🧠
Is CNBC the default TV channel in all OR physician lounges? 💰📈
“You can wear scrubs” = best words one can utter to med students
Day 2 of my @iupicu rotation — a big learning curve but some impressive on-shift teaching! A lot of reading to do this weekend 📚
Pediatrician made me change a newborn’s diaper on rounds. I’m officially initiated into pediatrics.
Day 1 of OB/GYN (on-call) with no ending time in sight. Great first day — learning I like the more “unpredictable” specialities the most.
Got to drive doc’s Tesla AND the da Vinci robot today 😏🏎💨
Wannabe by the Spice Girls is echoing through the OR hallways. Happy Tuesday
Day 2 of Surgery: My feet and kidneys hurt. Although my attending takes us to @DennysDiner after rounding in the AM and before the OR...so makes up for it.
Doing my Gen Surg rotation at a critical access hospital - no OB, no ICU. Everyone knows everyone. Day 3 and the cafe workers know my name. #winning

“Hey Colton’s got his wallet out and is looking at desserts. Someone go help him” 🙃🙃
1st day of Interventional Cardiology — spent 15 min with first patient debunking myths about COVID vaccine.
Home STEMI call tonight — everyone take your aspirin and statin please. #MedTwitter
