👎🏻 Copying: take input from one source, skim it, imitate it.

👍🏻 Inspiration: Inputs from multiple sources, remix, modify to your context

#JioMeet #zoom Image
Broke: JioMeet copied Zoom

Woke: JioMeet launched in a hurry and hence just ripped off Zoom’s design

Bespoke: Jio played out an elaborate growth hack to trend on twitter, engage the meme armies and grow via viral marketing

#Jiomeet #Zoom
For folks who are genuinely asking if it’s wrong: Jio might not get into trouble unless Zoom pursues legal action

But if you do something like this, even if it’s just lifting someone’s Dribbble artwork for an app, you’re going to get sued

probably the most important essay you need to read as a designer, creator, founder for the upcoming era

“in a world of scarcity, we treasure tools.
in a world of abundance, we treasure taste.” Image
massive kudos @anuatluru for articulating so clearly and beautifully👏

How to earn ₹50,000 / $700 per month on the side, mostly passively

From $100/mo to $5000/mo ideas and beyond. Including the shifts in mindset & frameworks necessary

Based on my experience running tons of side hustles over the past 5 years

1 RT = 1 insight

Based on @BehereBaba’s thought provoking tweet the other day.

Will compose my thoughts into a thread if there’s interest / will delete this thread otherwise haha

The future of online education:

People don’t want to just be a number in a database, watching videos alone.

People want to have interesting experiences and form meaning relationships with others.

Big opportunity.
Too often companies focus on just the “hard outcomes”

- Getting a job
- Learning the skills

But miss out on the “soft outcomes” like

- Making new friends
- Gaining clarity & confidence
- Referrals from a trusted community
- A lifelong alumni network you can lean on for support
Whoops, typo in the first tweet

*meaningful relationships 🙂

Want to start a side project in 2021 but don't know how?

Tips
💡 Maintain a running list of ideas
💡 Add to it every week, even the bad ones
💡 Participate in Twitter convos for insights

Once it fills up
💡 Pick something that seems worth pursuing
💡 Make a v1 over the weekend
Keep in mind that your v1 doesn't have to be a perfect product. It can be a

✔️ WhatsApp / Telegram channel
✔️ Landing page with newsletter
✔️ No-code MVP with Webflow or similar

The goal is to build MOMENTUM. Once you get started, the ideas start flowing.
The biggest problem isn't that people don't have ideas.

It's that they sit on them for too long and never build up the 'escape velocity' to launch it to the world.

Don't let perfectionism hold you back. 💥

The biggest difference between old school online ed (Udemy, Skillshare) and newer live learning models (
@10kdesigners, Building a Second Brain etc)

Passive learning vs Active learning

Reading isn't enough, you have to DO.
Passive: watching someone design a webpage in Figma
Active: jumping into Figma and doing it yourself

Passive: reading business school case studies
Active: actually starting a business
When you watch someone else do something, it creates the illusion of 'knowing'

However, experiential knowledge might be the only true knowledge there is

Teach everything you know.
Some days I feel like TEIK so that I can move on to the next thing.

Other days I feel like TEIK and serving others might be the only thing.
If anything I teach resonates with you, it’s because you already knew it at some level.

There is no new information, just new messengers.
