As well as Taner's conviction, Amnesty Turkey's former director, Idil Eser, was also convicted for membership of a terrorist organization alongside Özlem and Günal.

NO DETENTION ORDERS were issued for Taner or any of those convicted.

This verdict is a crushing blow not only for Taner, Özlem, İdil & Günal and their families but for everyone who believes in justice in Turkey and beyond.

Today's decision is staggering. Over 12 court hearings, each & every allegation has been comprehensively exposed as a baseless slur. The court’s verdict defies logic & exposes this 3-year trial as the politically motivated attempt to silence independent voices it was from day one
