HRT is mental health medication. My depression was at critical levels before HRT and now I’m thriving. Wanting to deny medication to trans people and working to see our rights stripped away is not “admiration and solidarity.”
Rowling is really looking for any excuse to plug her transphobic essay. Mental health challenges are difficult for anyone to deal with, but mental heal issues are not an excuse for bigotry.
This is a line often touted by TERs and it is simply untrue. Yes, some healthcare professionals express issues with transitioning, but when you hear “9 out of 10 doctors support” you don’t usually think “ok, so I have to listen to the 1 doctor that doesn’t.”
Conversion therapy is about forcing people to live contrary to who they are. It’s incredible that Rowling can be against forcing a cis child to be trans but doesn’t give a shit about forcing a trans child to be cis. The reason for the double standard is clear - transphobia.

This goes without saying. Healthcare professionals make sure transition is the right choice before going down the path of permanent changes. The system does not see surgery as “the easy fix for girls who do not conform.” This is blatant tin foil hat fear mongering.
It is entirely possible that teens can be over prescribed medications, just as that is possible among adults. Being a children’s author does not make you an expert in this area and whether a cis or trans person stated that is irrelevant.
On this, she’s right that HRT effects have been studied for a long time. It’s been available to both cis and trans people for ages. Those studies show some side effects, however that is the case for many life-saving medications and the benefits far outweigh the minimal risks.
As mentioned previously, life-saving medications generally carry some risk, however in this case, medical professionals consider blockers to be “very safe.”

Wait, if she doesn’t care about people fact-checking her and creating a bad opinion of her, why did she take the time to release an 11 tweet response to a bad opinion of her instead of addressing the porn directed at children?
This is just silly. Neither of these people are qualified to offer advice or criticisms on the administering of medication or on the process by which that happens. There’s a reason this is the job of medical professionals and not keyboard warriors on Twitter.
Yes, detransitioning is real. No, trans folks don’t talk about it enough (unsurprising given how it’s wielded as a weapon against us). Regret is extremely low and generally the reason for detransition is a lack of societal acceptance, which requires people like Rowling to change.
Rowling’s “trans friends” are self identified men who claim to speak for trans women. When questioned, Jocelyn has never explained how they are trans and even here does not attribute their cardiovascular issues with trans-related medication. This is a grade A shit disturber.
