@StateHouseKenya, President has done his part. Now comes the difficult part of @MOH_Kenya coordinating with jurisdictional partners & citizenry to implement & if necessary, enforce recommended Non Pharmaceutical Interventions-NPI(s). Thread.@Hitlerlaw2

The onus is on all to implement NPIs not just in designated locations, but as a new normal. The implementation being in all priority locations, such as community settings where disease is circulating, isolation sites,or quarantine sites. @Ibrahimjohnny @RasnaWarah @ajfactual52
@MOH_Kenya Must however, coordinate support services for NPIs. Assist community partners with coordinating support services, such as medical care, mental health services, the provision of food & water, for individuals & communities targeted for NPI(s). @VictorMwambacha @chothep
A disciplined approach in closing certain locations & cancelling events with mass gatherings. To ensure NPI's implementation to the letter is a must. Because being one's brother's keeper in Kenya is a challenge. @JerotichSeii @johnnjenga @SimbaTirima @SolomonKarori2 @solo_ambuku
How we implement voluntary or mandatory restrictions on movement, as needed, in coordination with relevant jurisdictional officials & stakeholders. Will determine our outright success, however, our crude Police MUST not be involved ! @WaNduta8 @WanjikuRevolt @karingithiii
How transport authorities, manage movement, quarantine (quarantine stations), & or detain passengers at ports of entry & inland ports of call, as applicable, including security & law enforcement support, will determine how the citizenry reacts to measures. Kenyans are not goats!
Lest we forget, the National & County health systems are to be on the forefront in screening, registering, & conducting external decontamination of potentially exposed individuals. Devoid of any elements that can foster stigmatization, fear of which remains unspoken in Kenyans.
Mental/behavioral health services for specific populations when monitoring restriction of movement, such as isolation or quarantine, or other NPIs , such as social distancing & implementation of specialized hygiene requirements. Need to be embarked on in earnest. @BasilioCC
In border areas of Mandera, Moyale, Namanga, Lamu, Lunga Lunga, Busia & Malaba Identification of personnel, resources, including facilities & equipment, at or near ports
of entry to be used for separation of cohorts. Hoping our corruption tendencies are kept at bay. @SimbaTirima
Resources to address the needs of individuals for food, water, shelter, communications. Processes to supplement or surge resources, scalable plans to accommodate cohorts of various sizes in facilities, processes for monitoring these cohorts to need fool proof measures.
There must also be a way to assess the effectiveness & uptake of NPI's using relevant data about the disease or exposure, such as the degree of transmission, contamination, infection, severity of exposure, & monitor potential unintended or adverse effects of interventions.
In short, what the President has done is, throw the ball into our individual courts. It is time to be real Kenyans & play a part in our own individual destiny to promote the collective. Everyone of each other, God for all Kenyans. Are we ready? @threadreaderapp unroll.
