greenTEG has made it to outer space! Our gSKIN sensors have been used to run an experiment in outer space during the docking of the #HTV9 cargo ship, built and launched by @JAXA_en, to the @Space_Station. greenteg.com/283/Detail/

The #HTV9 was launched from #Japan using the #H2BF9 rocket on May 20, 2020. On the tip of the rocket, you will see mounted the #HTV9, nicknamed Kounotori (“white stork” in Japanese)

Both vessels are the last of their kind to be launched to #space, as they will be replaced by the next generation, capable of sending bigger loads to space.

After the successful launch of the #H2BF9, the #HTV9 left the #rocket behind and started a 5-day journey, carrying 6.2 metric tons of supplies and experiments to the @Space_Station

During the docking of the #cargo ship to the @space_station, the WLAN Demo experiment was performed. Its goal is to develop a new HTV cargo ship docking system via WiFi that will automate the process shown in this video.

At the same time, the experiment setup mounted a gSKIN #sensor from greenTEG, to measure the thermal influence of the propulsion system over the whole structure of the #HTV9 cargo ship. That will contribute to the development of the new generation of cargo ships, the HTV-X.

In the image below you will see marked in red where the heat flux sensor was placed on the #HTV9. This nice view is taken from the @space_station.
