The debate about US fatalities is still ongoing. The data has shown an uptick in the last few days, but it is a bit harder to interpret, since it was after the July 4 long weekend.

Specifically, the counties with the most cases per capita do not show declining fatality rates (we have automated this number crunching and update it every night via @ExanteData ).
It is also relevant in this context that the average age of new cases are edging back up in some states, such as Florida.
You have to look at the disaggregated to understand how the 2nd wave is evolving. The headline data is dominated by NY and those states now testing aggressively. But in the south, the situation looks more like a 1st wave, including on the fatality rates, in some counties at least
