In Dehradun on June 17, the forest officials and local Police forcefully destroyed a shelter belonging to Van Gujjars despite court orders to not take action against those who make claims under #FRA2006.

In another e.g. of impunity,forest officials in UP allegedly attacked & molested Adivasi women of the Tharu tribe in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. On 1 July,forest officials & local police attacked Kajaria village injuring many & physically assaulted women

In June the Forest Department in Dudhwa National Park used the Corona Crisis to roll back on the claims on land made by Adivasis of Dudhwa.

1) Identify eligible detainees

CJP volunteers are in touch with authorities at various detention camps as well as lawyers and family members of detainees. We prepared a list of who have completed the requisite period in detention in order to qualify for bail. 2/10

2) Find the correct address

There is often a discrepancy in the address as given by the detainee, the address as it appears in official records & the location from where the person was actually arrested. This often leads to confusion in terms of jurisdiction.

I’m Dilip Rana, a construction worker.I hail from Odisha & have worked in Mumbai for 15 years. My income supports my wife and 3 daughters back home. #MigrantDiaries
During the lockdown CJP helped us with emergency rations, but with no hope of work restarting, I was forced to head back home with 50 other migrant workers in the back of a truck. Needless to say social distancing was far from possible. #MigrantDiaries
