#Coronavirus Immunity is Probably Much Higher than Antibody Tests Suggest ― Hans-Gustaf Ljunggren (professor/senior physician, Karolinska Institute)

Many people with mild or asymptomatic #COVID19 demonstrate so-called T-cell-mediated immunity, even if they have not tested positively for antibodies (ABs) [1][2].

This means that public immunity is probably higher than AB tests suggest.
“roughly 30% of the blood donors who’d given blood in May 2020 had COVID-19-specific T cells” [1]

“Our results indicate that roughly TWICE as many people have developed T-cell immunity compared with those who we can detect antibodies in.” [1][2]
results have not yet undergone peer review ahead of publication in a scientific journal. Pending such review, the article has been published preprint, bioRxiv [2].

“It indicates that immunity to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a virus new to the population, is at least here in Stockholm”
Knut M. Wittkowski said during an interview [3] that in NYC, cross-immunity is ~25%, T-cell immunity ~25%, and SARS-CoV2 specific ABs ~25%.
According to Wittkowski, Hubei, South Korea, much of Europe, the Northeast of the US, already have herd immunity because of the more complete immunologic picture. Other regions may need a month or two.
