I tried my hardest not to again have to address the consistent issues that come from this member of the Stockstill family. Last year I wrote an open letter to Joel, which caused Pastor Jonathan Stockstill to reach out to me through Pastor Ronaldo Hardy.
To give full context Joel has over the years consistently said racist remarks and Black people exited Bethany Church. Many believe his inability to hide his political and racial views is why he was replaced by Jonathan as the pastor of the church years ago.
He criticized Obama, and Black leaders for supporting him.

I reached out to Jonathan because of relationship to let him know directly I can’t sit back and let a perverted gospel continue to be pushed.
As a believer who advocates for issues of social justice I know with certainty social justice is God’s business. I literally quote a scripture to close all my social media lives. Do Good and Seek Justice comes from Isaiah 1:17.
The reason intercession exist is to take our petitions to God. Black people have had to take our issues to our God because white men have forever perverted the scriptures to align with white supremacy.
They made Jesus look more like them, and less like us. Black prayer warriors prayed to God because tone deaf white men built institutions and even churches on the backs of Black people and then told them to be silent about their emotions. Be silent about injustice and ONLY pray.
Well faith without works is dead. Prayer alone won’t fix social ills, and if the wooly haired, bronze skinned, Jesus of the Bible were here he’d probably flip the table over at Bethany and a lot of other white church’s.
See the Stockstill’s attempt to disassociate with Joel, but he’s one of them. He learned these thoughts some where. Other family members understand speaking this is bad for business and the family business is church.
Well it still is, because if you won’t publicly condemn problematic and even racist logic, you’re a part of the problem.

Black people sitting in white churches should ask, why do so many of us fellowship in their churches — while so few of them will sit under Black leaders?
I’m about to go live because I’m going to run out of space to type. This is racist logic and problematic.

Black people let me address you, because I can’t change what’s rooted in the Stockstill’s belief system.
Come from among every white Pastor if they won’t change and condemn racist biased perspective and positions consistently taken by their families. Don’t tell me he’s no longer the pastor but then not condemn his racist rhetoric.
Dr. King said, "In spite of my shattered dreams of the past, I came to Birmingham with the hope that the white religious leadership of this community would see the justice of our cause, and with deep moral concern,
serve as the channel through which our just grievances would get to the power structure. I had hoped that each of you would understand. But again I have been disappointed.”
