I just have a little Friday favor to ask of all would-be authors hoping to embark on a #SystematicReview.

Before you start, could you please read about #SysRev?

It will help you know what you're getting yourself into.

Thread: Required Reading for #SysRev would-be authors.
There are so many resources out there, like the Cochrane Handbook:

training.cochrane.org/handbook/curre…

This can apply to any SR, need not be a Cochrane SR.
Same for the MECIR Standards:

methods.cochrane.org/methodological…
The PRISMA Statement:

prisma-statement.org
The PRISMA-P Extension (for Protocols):

prisma-statement.org/Extensions/Pro…
Finding What Works in Healthcare, Standards for Systematic Reviews from the Institute of Medicine:

nap.edu/read/13059/cha…
These are all required reading for anyone working with #sysrev. Here's the quiz:

-Do you have to work with a team?
-How much time should you plan for effort?
-Do you need to have a protocol and predefined criteria?
-Will you need to do evidence grading/appraisal?
If a systematic review doesn't fit, or if you don't have the time or person-power, consider any number of other expert reviews, and then read about them, too:

browse.welch.jhmi.edu/sr-methods/exp…

Would you believe I actually thought of one more thing to add?

This wonderful article from Borah et al.:

"Analysis of the time and workers needed to conduct systematic reviews...."

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
Any other #medlibs or #methodologists want to weigh in on required reading for #sysrev?

Okay, now I'm fin/
😆😆😁
