Systems VS Goals

The path to actually achieving success

// THREAD //
We all know what a goal is...

For those that forgot

It is a defined ambition, aspiration, or something you want to achieve

But... having a goal isn't enough
A new years resolution is a goal

But 99.9999% of people don't follow through with the goal they set

Why?

Because your current, habits & actions aren't going to change JUST by defining a large scale (out of reach) goal
The solution is to resort to a system for achieving your lofty goals

For those unaware - a system is a plan, or set of actions that need to be taken to get something done (in our case)

Our goal (ha!) here is to create a system that you can follow each day to reach success
Step 1: The BIG Goal

Hold nothing back

Set a huge - nearly unattainable goal that you want to accomplish in your lifetime

Theres some saying along the lines of "aim high, even if you don't hit it, you will get closer than if you aimed lower"

Something like that
Step 2: Refine Refine Refine

Set a 10 year goal

Set a 5 year goal

Set a 1 year goal

Set quarterly goals

Set monthly goals

All of these should be attainable.

(We aren't even to the system yet)
Step 3: Systemize your daily actions

This is where the magic happens

Small daily actions you can take that will bring you closer to hitting your big goal

***If you were to strip away all of the goals, you would still accomplish great things doing this***
You need to prioritize tasks that are directly related to reaching your monthly goals and up

Here is an example:

If I want to make $5k this month by landing a client

Prospecting + followups would be a priority daily task (even though the reward isn't immediate)
One other example

If you want to grow on Twitter

Time block 1 hour in the morning of pure focus to write tweets and engage with others
Pick 2-3 priority tasks you can do on a daily basis and knock them out in a time slot where your energy is highest.

For most - this would be first thing in the morning

For others - this could be at night

If you are unsure, do it first thing in the morning.
That is the important part.

If you want to go even further, have auxilliary tasks that you can knock out at other times of the day

The point is, knocking out priority tasks day by day will eventually lead to success (make sure you refine the smaller monthly goals)
This, ladies and gentleman, is how you reverse engineer your own success

It is a lot simpler than most would think

With that said, implement this immediately before you get distracted by Twitter again.
One other thing to do before you get distracted

I like to experiment.

For the past 3 weeks, I’ve done the complete opposite of popular life advice.

- No pomodoro timers
- No morning routine
- No thinking through problems

Here’s what I’ve learned following Lao Tzu’s “Law Of Reversed Effort:”
Here's the problem.

If you try to be productive, you will be lazy.

If you try to be happy, you will be unhappy.

If you try to be confident, you will be insecure.

If you try to close the sale, you lose it.

This is the paradox of life.

In comes the Law of Reversed Effort.
The reason you are overwhelmed, insecure, unhappy, lazy, etc is because of the mental friction.

Too much thinking. Too much going on.

Too much expectation and assumption of how things should be, rather than how they are.

The story of how I failed at 7 businesses before making my first $100,000 online

And the lessons I learned the hard way (so you don't have to):
My self-development journey started when I was 13.

I was the type that observed others, questioned everything, and did everything in my power to avoid an average life.

Online business was the logical next step.

Let's start with my 7 "failures:"
1) Fitness influencer

At 14 I turned to YouTube for my self-education.

Got sucked into the fitness community.

Got obsessed, trained for 5 years, and started my own YT channel.

I posted lifting vlogs, eating challenges, and monologues.

Didn't take off and I got bored of it.

// YOUR BASELINE OPERATING STATE //

Most people are a slave to their conditioning. They've taken on habits, biases, beliefs, and more that are not their own — but others.

Attachment, identification, poor nutrition, and lack of movement result in a low-energy, lifeless state.

Study human behavior, storytelling, marketing, big ideas, biological problems, and yourself.

Grabbing and holding attention is the skill of all skills.
Human behavior, why?

If you want to change the world, solve problems, or build any kind of money-making solutions — you will have to spark positive behavior change.

Habits, biases, psychology, etc.

Making people read, watch, or listen is different from changing behavior.
Storytelling.

Well-aligned with human behavior.

Storytelling = transformations and overcoming hardships. Humans love that shit.

They are relatable and reveal the path to overcoming your own obstacles.

6 ways to invest your focus for a higher quality of life:

— Thread —
Focus is a currency.

Where, how, and to what frequency you invest it will determine every good or bad thing about your life.

Small investments of focus in these areas will lead to an abundance of money, good relationships, and mental clarity.
1) Lever-Moving Tasks

Every day you should have a number of important tasks. These should move the needle towards achieving your goals.

These vary per individual. Some do well with 3, others 10. Test.

Once you complete these, allow yourself to relax. Consider the day a win.
