2/ Most interestingly, this fear may be what drove Charles Chapin in 1910 (books.google.com/books/about/Th…) to argue so forcefully against aerosol transmission. Which set up the mindset that still hobbles us to today! (HT @Don_Milton) 
3/ But we can do better than in 1910! We know so much more about the relevant details. Very likely the virus transmits in multiple ways, which one dominates depends on many circumstances.
