Trump started touting Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine as miracle cures for #COVID19 yesterday. They’re about as old as Trump, widely used prescription drugs for malaria, with side effects. But some people can be severely allergic to quinines. Important thread, please RT 1/x
American doctors routinely prescribe anti-malarials to people traveling overseas. Start two weeks before, take during and for four weeks after. Key is that patients aren’t sick yet, they’re going to be thousands of miles away, and they may not have medical care at all. 2/x
Yet, doctors who have sworn to “First, do no harm” routinely prescribe these drugs to healthy adults and children whom they CANNOT monitor for ill effects. To save them from Malaria, which has a FAR lower mortality rate than #COVID19. 3/x

To preempt summary justice advocates who’ll claim the man’s actions were justified:
• No street was ever blocked longer than THREE MINUTES
• Reliably stopped traffic needed to hand out flyers; mostly well received
• We always step aside to let emergency vehicles pass
