/ I am an @MCPS educator. The message the @mocoboe has sent to the public is VERY different than the messages they are sending to staff. They have neither the manpower nor the resources to keep kids safe at levels recommended by the @CDCgov.
/I am a parent in the system as well as an educator. I will NOT be sending my children into the festering petri dishes that classrooms will become without proper protections.
/ Teachers--including teachers that are immunocompromised and/or who live with immunocompromised people are being given "consideration" about working remotely but aren't being guaranteed.
/ two cloth masks will be provided per person. For the entire year. My students can't get from one class to the next without losing their pencils... How do we expect them to keep those masks all year? Oh, and they can't promise that a kid will be sent home if they have no mask.
/ Those automatic hand sanitizing stations they promised? Schools and PTAs can buy them. Meaning they will have them in Bethesda & Potomac, but not East Silver Spring and Germantown. Who will be cleaning the classrooms between classes in MS & HS? Teachers and students.
/ Who will enforce social distancing at bus stops and on buses? Not MCPS employees. We didn't even have enough bus drivers last year.
/ Poor HVAC in your old school building? Does the air just sit there all day and not circulate properly? MCPS doesn't think it will be a problem.
/ I really could go on and list all of the problems with this plan. Some more are located here (article by @CaitlynnPeetz14) bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/…

I have zero faith that MCPS will be able to have "all students back in the buildings by Thanksgiving" safely.
/ 4 of the top 10 ZIP Codes in MD (in terms of numbers of infected) are in #MoCo. 6700 kids between 10 and 18 in MD have tested positive for #COVID19. @pgcps and others in the state have shut down buildings for the fall. Why does @MCPS keep thinking it knows better?
/ What to do? Contact members of the Board of Ed at their individual email addresses, found here montgomeryschoolsmd.org/boe/members and ask them to assure the public that we will be closed, at least for the foreseeable future, and unless they can guarantee CDC recommended protections
