Thread: Comparing my experience getting a #COVID19 test at a @NYCHealthSystem's testing center vs. a private urgent care center. At the urgent care, I waited outwside with a dozen or so other people. At Cumberland/Gotham Health on North Portland Ave in Brooklyn there was no wait.
At Cumberland/Gotham Heath I was given hand sanitzer before entering tent. At @CityMD no one made me sanitize my hands, but hand sanitzer was availabe. At Cumbrerland/Gotham Health someone made sure I wore my mask properly. At the urgent care, a man walked in without a mask on.
The man without a mask at @CityMD continued to talk to staff and no one told him to put on a mask until someone in the waiting room said something to an employee. At Cumberland/Gotham Health every staff member wore a PPE gown over scrubs, a visor and a head covering.
At @CityMD, most staff only wore scrubs & masks. Some wore gloves. One woman behind the counter had her mask only covering her mouth, not her nose. At Cumberland/Gotham Health, when I put my wallet & phone down, someone gave me a disinfecting wipe to clean them. Not at CityMD.
At every step in the process at Cumberland/Gotham Health, I was given hand sanitizer to clean my hands. Not at @CityMD. When they performed the test at Cumberland, they asked me to keep my mask covering my mouth. At CityMD, they had me remove the mask entirely.
Cumberland/Gotham Health will have my test results back to me in 2-3 days. The last time I went to CityMD it took 13 days to get the results. I was in and out of Cumberland in 15 minutes. The wait at CityMD was 1 hr 15 minutes, & people were allowed to stay inside waiting room.
The attention to health safety, to preventing the spread of #COVID__19 at @NYCHealthSystem's Cumberland/Gotham Health was much greater than at the urgent care center. Testing at Cumberland took place in a tent outside. @NYCMayor @nycHealthy @NYCHealthCommr @DrKatzNYCHH
