On a walkabout of the newly renovated Lenasia south district hospital.
Lenasia south district hospital was recently upgraded to cater for the growing needs of the communitiy as well as the for the #COVID19 pandemic. #LSDHVisit
The numbers are increasing & this has put pressure on our hospitals. There are blockages but the triage system is assisting us. There are field beds available. Nasrec has a capacity for 1500 beds. We can still absorb many more patients there. #LSDHVisit
Oxygen tanks at hospitals like this one in Lenasia is important. We are watching our peak. The numbers may be less than what had been predicted but we cannot be sure.#LSDHVisit
We believe our efforts and the competence of our clinicians is allowing us to keep our mortality rate low. #LSDHVisit
We thank all our healthworkers. They can call us at anytime for assistance. All volunteers who have been recruited will be compensated.#LSDHVisit
Our healthworkers are beginning to feel the opening up of space in our hospitals. And that is positive. Additional beds in all our hospitals will continue to ease the burden on some facilities.#LSDHVisit
We expect the numbers in KwaZulu Natal to increase and for KZN to be the province with the second highest numbers after Gauteng. #LSDHVisit
We appeal to south africans to take #COVID19 seriously, wear a mask, sanitise your hands. We are still hearing of people moving around without masks and hosting parties. This is very serious.#LSDHVisit
If you suspect distress in your chest, someone described it as a feeling of having an elephant sitting on you chest- you must realise your oxygen supply is being affected by the infection.#LSDHVisit
At Nasrec, there is a 90 year old patient and a 12 year old. An 84 year old patient has been discharged after recovering. #LSDHVisit
While the infection spreads and people are being tested, we must remember there have been people who have already recovered. We can be stronger than the storm. #LSDHVisit
#COVID19 is going to be with us for a while. We need to adjust and we do this by wearing masks, using sanitizer, washing hands and social distancing. It is very important #LSDHVisit
If you need treatment our institutions will do everything to ensure that you come out well.#LSDHVisit
There is no need to discriminate against those that have #COVID19 we need to be accepting of this, it can happen to anybody in any house. We continue to do everything to move ahead of the surge. #LSDHVisit
Our beds are not full in Gauteng. We are expecting more beds on stream in the next few weeks so we are prepared. #LSDHVisit
It is an important call to save the nation. Thank you to our healthworkers.#LSDHVisit
