The government’s process of procuring vaccines preceded the discovery of the 501Y.V2 variant and other variants. #VaccineRolloutSA
Before the efficacy results, SA could not delay receipt of the vaccine batches to await the results of the efficacy studies by our scientists, as this would have relegated the country to the back of the line for vaccines due to global shortage of supplies. #VaccineRolloutSA

@MorningLiveSABC the numbers are reducing. We are not over the worst yet, we are worrying about the resurgence. Globally we are now at number 7, this tells us 2 things - 1 the numbers are declining in SA, 2 Globally the numbers are still increasing.
@MorningLiveSABC We are not ready to open everything immediately. We are moving in that direction, the economy does need to be opened, however we will ease into the decrease in restrictions.

@SAfmRadio we’ve seen that hospital admissions have been reduced, the number of people on ventilators have been reduced.
The risk of resurgence still exists. South Africans need to be aware that whilst we’re decreasing restrictions, we still need to wear masks, sanitize, etc. @SAfmRadio

@Powerfm987 The numbers of recoveries have increased to about 88% and this is encouraging. South Africa was also number 5 in the world during the peak, we have now dropped to number 7. #POWERBreakfast
For about 3 weeks now we’ve been on a steady decline. We’ve seen other countries where they’ve had almost no cases and then there has been a second wave #POWERBreakfast
