1/ The data is back! @HHSGov is refreshing ICU & bed counts using its new HHS Protect System.

We've refreshed: covidexitstrategy.org

The past week has sounded the 🚨🚨🚨 that we need an "Operation Warp Speed" for data.

Reliable & realtime data is a critical intervention.
2/ The team at @HHSGov has a new system called HHS Protect that is bringing together "200 disparate data sources...into one ecosystem that integrates data across federal, state, and local governments and the healthcare industry."

3/ The data released by HHS Protect only scratches the surface of what the system can produce. We need @HHSGov to share more than just ICU/bed counts.

@l_e_whyte from @publicintegrity shared a leaked data-rich document of what the team produces.

4/ We need this report and other reports shared with the broader public. The reports are painstakingly detailed with county-level maps, indicators on testing robustness, and recommendations.
5/5 We've heard these reports get to the governors, but not always down to local leaders.

That needs to change. It is time for *all* COVID-specific data being used by agencies and task forces to be made public immediately.

Q: What datasets are integrated into @HHSGov Protect System?

- multiple case count sources
- hospital capacity, utilization, inventory
- supply chain data
- lab testing data
- census/demo
- testing locations
- state policy actions
- CLI & ILI
- private sector contributions
Q: Will this data be manipulated by political appointees within the government?

No. HHS Protect was built and designed by the Department’s career staff with the input of scientists and doctors. This is a system designed to be above politics and manipulation.
There's an amazing team behind that binder. They work day in and day out.

Share their work with us, the 🇺🇸 people.

A *huge* thing just happened on the @SenateFloor.

@SenSchumer shared that he & @SpeakerPelosi met with Meadows & Mnuchin and hammered home how important this data is to the 🇺🇸 people. That if the WH/HHS doesn't release the data, Congress will act.

How do you make a private warning more effective? You make it public.

@l_e_whyte shares details from a private call the coronavirus task force held today that shared analysis from the data HHS collects.

The ask is simple: just add 🇺🇸 to the cc: line.
