QUESTION: What should you do if you suspect you and your family are potential targets? Scott Stewart @stick631 of @TorchStoneGlobl has the answers. Follow this thread. Image
ANSWER: "1. Carefully guard your personal information such as your home address. Maintain a low profile – avoid vanity license plates and other things that can readily identify who and what you are and that may help lead a potential attacker to your home.
2. Practice good situational awareness and be alert for pre-operational surveillance conducted as the assailant is planning the attack.
3. Report all threats or people with an unhealthy focus of interest in you to the appropriate corporate security or law enforcement authorities for investigation and assessment.
4. Ensure you have adequate residential security measures in place. Use the security equipment that is installed. Make sure all family members are also trained on how to operate locks, alarms and other equipment. Video cameras have proved to be a deterrent in several attacks.
5. Establish a family procedure for accepting packages and ensure it is followed. This includes being very wary of unexpected and odd packages. If a package is unexpected, ask to see the ID card of the delivery person.
Do this through the door peephole or better yet an intercom with a camera. Ask the delivery person to place the item on the porch and watch them leave before opening the door. Before opening the unexpected item call the purported sender to confirm they sent you something.
Finally, follow your instincts, if something feels wrong with the parcel don’t bring it int your home. If something seems odd with the delivery person arrange to pick the package up at the company’s local office the next day rather than open your door to a potential attacker."
