In the last 10 weeks, I was able to improve OneWord.Domains' Alexa ranking from >800K to below 200K. It took a lot of cold emails, trial-and-error, and sleepless nights. Here's how I did it:

1) Launch on @ProductHunt. PH is a great place for you to test out your MVP and see if your product actually solves a real user problem. It's also really good for SEO - by getting to #2 on PH, my site went from not ranking in any searches to ranking in the top 5 overnight.
2) Reach out to news websites that are relevant to your niche for press coverage. I gotta give a shoutout to Andrew from @DomainNameWire for being kind enough to write about OWD multiple times over the last 10 weeks, which drove a lot of high-quality traffic to the site.
3) Get to the front page of @newsycombinator. Not only will this drive tons of traffic to your site (I got over 12K people in less than 12 hours), the frank nature of the HN crowd will provide you with TONS of constructive feedback on how to make your product better.
4) Optimize your site for SEO. Two tips that I got from @1HaKr on this (refer screenshot):

- For each of your pages, put the unique keyword at the left of the title tag.
- Include the current year in title.

I improved the number of SEO clicks for OWD by 50% just by doing this. Image
5) Build a mailing list. @OneWord_Domains' newsletter of over 550+ people has been a great source of returning visitors. FYI, I usually send out emails every Sunday at 10AM PST announcing new features/new domains that I found in the week - be sure to sign up if you're interested!
6) Content marketing via blog posts. I still have yet to do this, but it's probably one of the best ways to get high-quality organic traffic to your site. @PlausibleHQ's phenomenal blog is Exhibit A for this method.

7) Interact with communities that are in your niche. Since I'm targeting the startup founders, domain investors, and branding agencies, I frequent @IndieHackers, @newsycombinator, and @reddit.

I also manage a thread on @NamePros, where I post the best domains I find every week.
8) Just don't give up. SEO is a long and arduous process, and it usually takes weeks, if not months to see your efforts come to fruition. Work smart and hard, and you'll start to see the results in no time!

Good luck! 😇
