As we told you, OSA started as Operation Rescue and got famous blockading a Wichita clinic for almost seven weeks in 1991. The abortion doctor at that clinic, Dr. George Tiller, was assassinated in his church in 2009. #OSAunmasked
Operation Rescue’s clinic-blockading antics turned into a campaign called “No Place to Hide.” You know, they’re basically spelling it out for us. #OSAunmaskedlatimes.com/archives/la-xp…
In 1993, Michael Griffin murdered Dr. David Gunn. At the time OSA’s own Matt Trewhella signed a statement calling this murder “justifiable.” The same Trewhella that spoke at OSA’s hatefest THIS week. #OSAunmaskedsplcenter.org/fighting-hate/…
OSA always tries to establish distance when anti-abortion people commit actual violence, but we do have EYES, you know. Some of the people who signed this “justifiable” homicide letter were members of the anti-abortion terrorist group Army of God. prochoice.org/education-and-…
The Army of God website is gruesome and unsettling. On the front page you read “George Tiller, The Babykiller, reaped what he sowed.” They also have a manual that’s basically instructions for clinic violence and clearly shows how far they'll go to stop abortion. #OSAunmasked
Are we adequately conveying how terrifying they are? If not there’s a whole documentary about how they genuinely believe executing doctors and bombing clinics is what God wants them to do. #OSAunmasked
How are these two groups related? Matt Trewhella, mostly! He headlined Army of God’s White Rose Conference in 2001. There's a blog about punishing women on their site by him. Plus I mean … we did show you this picture, right? #OSAunmaskedindyweek.com/news/straight-…
And again, their language is all about how far you should go to stop abortion. They preach that you should ignore Roe. They claim everyone who’s not like them is ruining America. They shouldn't act surprised when people say they’re responsible for violence. #OSAunmasked
That’s really what we want to leave you with. Sure, they’re a bunch of losers who can’t work Zoom. But their ideology leads to violence. And it makes patients and clinic workers unsafe. And that’s why we have to counter them whenever we see them. #OSAunmasked.

For #My40Days, let’s talk about MINDFULNESS about how we discuss abortion with friends, people who've had abortions, your aunt Linda, your dentist, and so on. Let’s start with a big one: why we’ve (mostly) stopped saying “pro-choice.”
We are ALL about letting people have agency over their decisions. So yes, naturally, “pro-choice” works well for that. #My40Days
But we also have to think about who “pro-choice” leaves out. The healthcare system and the WORLD are effed up and create all kinds of barriers for people who want to be parents. So for some people maybe it’s not a “choice” to have an abortion so much as a necessity. #My40Days
#RBG taught us to stand up to sexist ghouls. Now that she's gone, misogynists are twirling their gross mustaches, gearing up to replace her legacy with an anti-abortion extremist!
Said anti-abortion ghouls have started their crusade with a nationwide clinic troll-a-thon called "40 Days for Life." #My40Days
In this annual event, hordes of uninvited Catholic hatesplainers "stand guard" outside of abortion clinics for 40 days and 40 nights. Really, it's just stalking. #My40Days
Badass of the day: Shirley Chisholm! Today is the 49th anniversary of Chisholm entering the Democratic primary, making her the first Black woman to run for president of these United States.
When she ran for Congress, her slogan was “Unbought and unbossed.” She also spoke truth to power when she said, “If you don’t have a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”
When she was elected to Congress — also the first Black woman to do that — they tried to hide her on the ag committee, which took her away from working for the people who actually elected her. Still she rose.
Although she was obstructed by the head of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (fuck you forever, Scott Lloyd and your creepy period tracking), she did eventually receive her abortion with the help of the @ACLU, activists, and @JanesDueProcess.
So today we thought we’d tweet out her statement from the time as a reminder of why we fight so hard for everyone to get the abortion care they need:
