(CORRECTION) Earlier I quote-tweeted Ret. Lt. Gen. @LTGRusselHonore as offering some evidence—in a name tape on a CBP agent in Portland—of DHS use of private contractors. A review shows CBP uses "unique identifiers" to keep agents anonymous as they violate citizens' civil rights. 
PS/ The phrase "unique identifiers" comes from CBP, per the Cato Institute. Note: the use of random letters and numbers on federal agents' uniforms violates DOJ policy and doesn't qualify as a lawful name tape or insignia. We still don't know if these men are private contractors.
NOTE/ I admire @LTGRusselHonore for his faith—if misplaced—in the integrity of federal troops. He saw an apparent "ZTI" name tape and assumed it an honest and accurate recitation of the origin of the agent—in this hypothetical, ZTI Solutions.

NOTE2/ Unfortunately, CBP isn't *merely* dishonest. Its use of random letter and number combinations on fake, DOJ-violative name tapes is *intended* to produce confusion even in military experts observing and commenting on CBP and BORTAC operations in Portland. That's terrifying.
NOTE3/ The good news—if you can call it that—is that this thread offers *some* evidence certain CBP and BORTAC agents in Portland *may* be wearing insignias, if not DOJ-approved name tapes (see the photos, in which several agents have a circular patch under their fake name tape).
