Just arriving late to the party on this Friday night in Portland 7/24 and wondering if anyone else noticed the giant projection of our first amendment rights on the side of that building by the federal courthouse?
I have talked about the crowds all week but damn there are so many people out tonight. And also this quilt
In addition to us @tuckwoodstock @LindseyPSmith7 @MrOlmos @hungrybowtie @TheRealCoryElia @defendpdx @IwriteOK @PDocumentarians and probably any other local reporters are here. Also federal LRAD is going
And the fence is moving
Gas and pepper balls
Gas pushed people into the park and then onto the sides
Real 1812 second line vibe down here tonight.
Lots of small teams of leaf blowers protected by people with shields keep farming up to push the gas clouds back
Her sign says “black mothers have been doing this for years”
Feds also have a leaf blower
It’s a ryobi!
It feels like most of Portland is out here with all of the blocs, moms, lawyers, nurses, teachers, dads, vets
Dancing #momtifa in gas masks dance in front of feds and clouds of gas
Insulation-panel shields!
Riot pokeball
There’s a hand wash station! Don’t put milk in your eyes!
Nurse solidarity shield
Gas, the air quality difference protesters leaf blowers make, people and shields
On another note, all of the DHS agents at least on the North west corner are like a head shorter than US marshals. Just an observation
There is an ongoing battle between protesters and the feds in whether 3rd will get filled with tear gas #PortlandProtests
#LeafBlowerDads
Shield wall
I don’t know how to portray the feeling that Portland is engaged in both a battle against brutality and occupation and also a street celebration of life
@riotribs taking cover while feds fire impact munitions into the park. There are not protesters here, just grills and food
Back between 4th and 5th medics are treating the injured in the street, flushing eyed and bandaging people
So if my videos look repetitive it’s because the same street battle is still going on
But then there was a big fire and the feds came out and arrested someone by comrad 7/11 and handed the person over to the police and then withdrew back to their buildings
US Marshals and DHS bullrush and arrest a protester
The arrest
And federal protective services hand the person they arrested over to the Portland Police Bureau
And then this standoff
Feds pull back
And the feds throw gas behind them and then run away
Followed by the shield wall
More shields
And with that we are out of downtown
The whole trade off of the arrest was really interesting because the PPB is supposed to not be working with the feds. However they keep forgetting and switching between wanting to chat and line up together and trying to pretend they don’t see each other
