This is just flat out wrong and the Washington Post should be ashamed.

washingtonpost.com/national/coron…

If I have spare time, I'll write a short novel about all the ways it's wrong.

Reporters continually show their ignorance when they pick a single metric & focus on a single state.
Florida is being treated badly because they have good Sunshine Laws. Other states are FAR worse (like New York and New Jersey), but just aren't publishing the data in a comprehensive format.
For example, here's WaPo mad that DeSantis said the models were wrong about everything.

Here's the WaPo admitting that the models were wrong.

So their position seems to be, "only we can say the models were wrong, even though they're wrong."
Here's WaPo admitting that many of the people it interviewed for this story were "political operatives."

Yah, seriously they did that.
WaPo then denounces DeSantis for about 5000 deaths.

New York and Florida have similarish population.

Where the massive WaPo article on Andrew Cuomo's failures that killed six times as many people?
Buried in paragraph #5,173,903...the state's Democratic emergency manager actually thinks DeSantis did fine.

This comes after anonymous quotes saying he was basically Satan.

So, standard WaPo hackishness.
Seriously, not one bit of criticism of DeSantis' response is from an identified source.

All the allegedly bad things DeSantis did are attributed to "lawmakers and experts."

That's possibly the vaugest thing I've ever seen.
Again, a basic Google search is all that's needed to utterly debunk this piece.

It's seriously that stupid. It's so bad.
Btw, all of you should follow @politicalmath. He's BY FAR the most reliable source I've seen.

As he points out, Flordia's death rate is about that of Colordao's.

The talking point that Florida (or Texas) played politics with this virus is false
As PM pointed out earlier, the press has VICIOUSLY attacked DeSantis and Florida a million different ways over their data situation.

Meanwhile, the data in Connecticut literally hasn't been updated in months...no news articles about that.
Every single reporter who writes about Florida should be required to read this excellent explanation before they type anything.

But, let's get back to this pathetic excuse for an article.

Look at this dishonesty...this article loathes DeSantis so much it blames him for budget cuts that happened between THREE AND NINE YEARS BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED.
This is just a flat out lie with the data, confusing active cases with all cases.
At last, a real number that WaPo reported accurately...

Maybe the fact that DeSantis' handling of the crisis is unpopular has SOMETHING to do with WaPo's REPEATED lies about his handling of the crisis though?
Also, Blue States have THREE TIMES as many per capita deaths as Red States.

Write an article about that @isaacstanbecker
What really annoys me here is that this is the ultimate example of a drunkard's search...aka...digging deeply on something in the area where its psychologically easy for WaPo hacks to look.

The talking point that Florida (or Texas) was played politics with this virus is DEAD WRONG.

And again, the data says quite clearly that the idea that Republican states are doing worse than Democrat states is ALSO DEAD WRONG.
Politics does not correspond well to the results AT ALL. Because I can be MUCH more honest with the data than WaPo and get a result where Blue States have 3 times worse results than Red.
What's crazy is that Florida has a lot of old people.

It is basically America's retirement home.

The fact that it doesn't have the highest per capita COVID-19 death rate in the US is astonishing....and DeSantis deserves some credit
What's really annoying here is that as anyone who can read should be able to see, Florida's result isn't that bad...EVEN THOUGH TONS OF OLD PEOPLE LIVE THERE!
