Been thinking about a concept lately, I'm calling it "High Throughput Management" a play on Andy Grove's book -- an Eng Leader who is able to multitask, address many concerns in different areas, and maintain high response rate on Slack, is highly valued to an org. 1/5 #startup
I pride myself on being responsive and think it engenders a sense of trust and reliability. Who are you more liable to trust? The person who responds immediately all of the time? Or the person who gets back to you hours or days later? Even if I can't respond in full I ack... 2/5
...right away. Not to say there is anything wrong about taking time to respond, but many things can be dealt with by a person of capable skill in seconds, particularly if they are able to multitask at a high rate. High Throughput Management. 3/5
I believe one of my strengths as a leader is being omnipresent in Slack, always seeing anything anyone posts anywhere and responding when a response is needed, and often when one is unsolicited, which I think provides immense value. Responding in real-time eliminates a... 4/5
...cycle and allows the org to keep humming without pause. I am aware this may be reflection, me valuing leaders that act as I do but boy do I default trust people who are able to respond immediately and it is haaaaard, especially as one's scope grows. 5/5 #startup #management
