Question 1: What did @TfL do to ensure BusCos delivering their services were minimising risk to their drivers & other staff – which is, after all, 1 of their statutory responsibilities? A: @CarolinePidgeon MQT shows TfL CALLED BusCo Bosses & @unitetheunion london.gov.uk/questions/2020…
Question 2: Did @TfL undertake checks of rest facilities at bus depots to ensure that BusCos were policing social distancing between drivers between routes? A: @CarolinePidgeon MQT shows TfL hasn't invoked those contract powers under @SadiqKhan EVER london.gov.uk/questions/2020…
Question 3: Did @TfL undertake spot checks of toilet facilities to ensure they really were cleaned, and that soap and hand sanitiser were freely available? A: NO. See 2 @CarolinePidgeon MQTs above. "Enhanced Cleaning" APRIL 2020
Question 4: Did @TfL ensure that enhanced cleaning of vehicles & depots was actually carried out? No. See Questions 1-3 above. Picture from April 2020
Question 5: Did @TfL issue instructions that cabs must be properly cleaned between each driver’s shift? No or if they did, no one from TfL was monitoring the situation. See Questions 1-4 Above. Picture from April 2020.
Question 6: Indeed, what instructions did @TfL’s Head of Safety issue to bus companies on which date? A: Based on evidence produced from @KeithPrinceAM MQT. Not Much! london.gov.uk/questions/2020…
re Question 6: this from 27 Feb @TfL communication sent by Lilli Matson to "all leaders [top 300]" By that date #Covid19 scare from 6 Feb @TransportTimes UK Bus Summit & Bus Drivers started dying in March. IMO Timing of Matson's RELAXED message couldn't haven't been worse.
re Question 6: undated @TfL "Risk Assessment: Impact on employees associated with delivering operational services for Surface Transport during the #Covid19 pandemic" makes no mention of PPE for Transport Workers. WTAF? content.tfl.gov.uk/surface-transp…
re Question 6: a "Briefing Note: Middle Door Boarding Trial" released as a result of @KeithPrinceAM MQT london.gov.uk/questions/2020…
& now published on my blog (b/c @MayorofLondon refuse to post on MQT site?) suggests that Ms. Matson had no role in approving it...WHICH IS REALLY STRANGE...why wouldn't @TfL Chief Safety Officer not sign off on this important 'safety action'? saferoxfordstreet.blogspot.com/2020/07/stopki…
b/c both @MayorofLondon & @TfL heavily advertised Middle-Door Boarding was implemented "to keep Bus Drivers safe" from #Covid19
But a review of the Briefing Note shows—in black and white on page 3—
"This trial did not assess the specific risk to drivers in the cab environment, or whether this change to boarding reduced the risk to drivers in the cab." HT>@therealdojj for pointing this out!
Some timely scrutiny from @LondonAssembly Members @KeithPrinceAM & @CarolinePidgeon means 6 Key Qs asked by @MLiebreich @MichaelMarmot HAVE ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED—even before the @TheMarmotReview 1st results have become available.
But as we already learned from @KeithPrinceAM MQT even when that happens, the results will only be "shared with stakeholders". london.gov.uk/questions/2020…
Do 'stakeholders include the public who are footing the "estimated" £165,000 tab for UCL's work? And why's @MayorofLondon —who promised London he was "determined to lead the most transparent, engaged and accessible administration London has ever seen"—being so SECRET about it?
